The Mystery (Mini Pot)
I am captivated by the intricate webs of a Raku firing. Like an ancient map to a forgotten world, the journey unfolds as the outer is transformed by the inner burning for change.
This mini pot is thrown on a wheel and raku fired. I use western-style raku involving removing the pots from the kiln while glowing red and placing it into a metal container with combustible materials. Once the materials ignite, the containers are closed. This process individualises the pieces. I have also used a modern form of Kinstugi using rose mica - mending the neck after a clean break. h93 mm x w65mm x d65mm
